Seattle Special Education
PTSAAbout Us
The Seattle Special Education PTSA was formed in 2006 to advocate for
special education students in the Seattle School District. The initial group of organizers is
excited about working with school-based PTAs to improve student achievement
for all children. Parents who have a child in special education often have
another child in general education. Members hope to work together with
families to strengthen the system for all students and ask that Seattle
School District PTAs become partners in their efforts.
Want to Get Involved?
So far there's been a
wonderful response to efforts to organize families, teachers and friends of
students with disabilities. The large amount of the effort needed to create
this PTSA has been done by a small handful of members. Your help is needed
and wanted to expand this group. If you'd like to actively help this group
grow and meet the needs of members, please get in touch with a contact below. Or, feel free to contact us if you're not sure what you'd like to do or
have questions. Thanks for helping us grow the Special Ed PTSA!
Please contact us if you have any
questions.

Volunteer Needed
The SpEd PTSA seeks to work in partnership with local school based PTA/PTSAs
and requests that a liaison from each school be assigned to fulfill a simple
communication role, which would include, a) keeping our brochure out in the
open and available to any and all parents, teachers and families, b) stay
abreast of announcements of speakers and programs presented by the SpEd PTSA
and relay this information to the school PTA and newsletter communications
to all the families of the school, c) be the point person for any individual
who seeks to get in contact with us, and d) if possible (although not
required), attend the presentations, and/or encourage others to attend our
presentations to help build the partnership between our organizations.
